STARTING SALARY RANGE: $40,539 - $45,607 annually, plus excellent benefits

POSITION TITLE: Legal Secretary - Litigation

DEPARTMENT: Chief Disciplinary Counsel - Austin, TX

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Provides a variety of legal and administrative support services in the processing of grievances and complaints submitted to the Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel against attorneys licensed to practice law in Texas. This position involves the accurate handling of a high volume of data, in a deadline-driven environment, and frequent interaction with the general public, Texas attorneys, and other outside agencies and organizations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for accurate and timely data entry using case management software.
  2. Prepares and edits letters, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  3. Organizes and maintains computer databases and physical filing systems.
  4. Assists attorneys and investigators with document preparation in connection with district court and grievance committee hearings.
  5. Performs other responsibilities and conducts special projects as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college-level courses preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in administrative office work; preferably in a legal environment and working with confidential information. Requires exceptional interpersonal and business communication skills. Must possess superior accuracy, proofreading, and organizational skills. Ability to problem-solve and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook Express. Experience using case management software preferred. Ability to speak and translate Spanish helpful. Requires valid driver's license.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of remote work and in-office work, at the discretion of employer.
