About the Team:
Optek's distributed team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. Optek also develops and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast's 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents. This software developer will be joining our team focusing on the platform side of our software development team.

Primary Responsibilities:
Project Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements under the guidance of senior engineers. Assist in analysis to determine integration needs.
Software Design and Development:Support the design of new software, applications under development, and the customization of current applications. Assist in the software update process for existing applications and in the roll-out of software releases.
Technological Awareness:Stay current with technological developments within the industry. Assist in monitoring and evaluating competitive applications and products. Review relevant literature, patents, and current practices as assigned.
Performance Metrics:Help track and evaluate performance metrics. Support the delivery of software on time, to specification, and within budget.
Quality Assurance:Work with the Quality Assurance team to ensure applications meet specification and technical requirements.
Other Duties:Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Day-to-Day Duties:
Implementing NQL and GQL Services:Write code in Golang to enhance real-time (NQL) and non-real-time (GQL) data services as outlined in the Genome project, ensuring efficient data collection and retrieval mechanisms under supervision.
Secure Coding Practices in USM KEY:Assist in the development and maintenance of the USM KEY service, focusing on secure authentication, private key management, and encryption protocols for cable modems.
Collaborative Software Development:Participate in collaborative software development with engineering teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination, including regular code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Defect Identification and Documentation:Assist in identifying, reproducing, and documenting software defects, particularly in the context of the Genome project. Support thorough testing and documentation practices.
Optimizing Software Performance:Assist in the performance optimization of the software by identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements to meet project objectives.
Adhering to Quality Assurance Practices:Support the application of quality assurance practices, such as inspecting, testing, and evaluating software, to guarantee accuracy and reliability in line with the Genome project's standards.
Engagement with Technical Components:Engage with the specific technical components of the Genome project, including Golang, NQL, GQL, and USM KEY.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in software development with a focus on Go (Golang).
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
