Palo Alto, CA

fulltime
Full Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking two faculty members in the Clinical Educator Faculty Line to provide clinical care for patients, primarily (80%) in our adult acute inpatient psychiatric service. The inpatient work will be 80% effort. The other 20%, if desired, can be in one of our subspecialty outpatient clinics, depending upon interest and subspecialty expertise.

Our inpatient program comprises three distinct services: a locked unit (primarily for individuals on a legal hold), an unlocked unit (for individuals at a high level of acuity, who are able to remain in the hospital voluntarily), and a geropsychiatry service (for individuals on both units who are 60+, and/or who are receiving electroconvulsive therapy). The patient population is highly diverse. Patients are 18 years of age and older. Many patients present with co-occurring medical diagnoses.

As a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, this position involves collaboration on patient treatment planning and identification of appropriate treatment outcomes. This faculty member will also participate in program development and clinical supervision of trainees. Direct clinical care duties entail group psychotherapy, individual therapy, diagnostic evaluation, and structured clinical interviewing. Opportunities for research and other teaching and mentoring opportunities are also available.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology or equivalent degree, have completed an APA-accredited internship, possess or be fully eligible for licensure as a psychologist in California, and experience providing psychological assessment and treatment for patients with serious mental illness in hospital settings, including those on involuntary psychiatric holds.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience, and ranges from $140,000-198,000.

This position commands a competitive salary enhanced by an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, generous housing assistance and home purchase programs, bonus programs, paid vacation time, paid personal time, as well as health/dental/vision benefits, paid malpractice, and 403(b) plans.

Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford also welcomes applications from others who would bring additional dimensions to the University's research, teaching, and clinical missions.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter and current curriculum vitae via e-mail to:
