Summary:
The HR Consultant serves as a primary liaison in the area of employee relations and risk compliance to provide consultation, support and guidance to leaders and associates. Primarily responsible for working closely with Associate Relation Advisors to resolve work-related issues, investigations, and consults with leadership regarding policies and procedures. Drives consistent interpretation and application of workplace policies. Consultants help plan and implement HR programs or special projects. This role partners with other HR areas of expertise on a regular basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Acts as a point person to ensure compliance with all pertinent HR related laws and regulations including the areas of EEO-1 reporting, affirmative action plans, business continuity events, labor law posters, compliance and ethics reporting and required company trainings
• Collaborates with the legal department as needed and required to respond timely to subpoena requests for associate employment data and records; consult with leaders in the research of information needed for legal matters involving federal and state agency charges
• Partners closely with Associate Relation Advisors in the case management tracking of sensitive work-related issues including investigations, complaints, performance corrective action, terminations and reduction in force
• Analyze HR and business data to identify employment related risks, problematic trends, metrics and reengineering initiatives to help ensure consistent application of company policies/procedures and compliance with federal, state and local laws or bank regulations. Analyze exit survey data to help strategize solutions and recommendations for improvement, quality, efficiency optimization and informed business decisions
• Process severance agreements and payments accurately and timely in compliance of established deadlines. Handle requests for outplacement services. Create communications, letters, forms or other business-related documents in support of the job function
• Partners closely with HR Manager in support of internal and external audits, risk assessments, working groups/committees, relief fund approvals and annual compliance of the associate handbook
• Assists the HR Leave Consultant and HR Contact Center in addressing questions related to policies, procedures and programs; promotes a collaborative approach by developing partnerships with managers, peers and subject matter experts to ensure associate needs are addressed
• Other duties assigned or special projects in support of company goals and initiatives
Competencies and Skills
• Solid knowledge of employment law and HR risks and compliance; thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures
• Ability to identify employment related trends and recommend solutions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel spreadsheets for data reporting and analysis
• Ability to work independently and manage a variety of priorities
• Must have strong attention to detail abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Competency in sound decision making abilities; effective influencing skills and conflict management
• Relationship building skills with strong partner focus and team orientation
• Organizing and planning skills
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required in this position
• 5+ years of experience in a HR Generalist or similar role providing HR support
• Bachelor degree preferred and at least 5+ years of related experience
