National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Supervisor, you will provide support for the supervision of a team ensuringthe safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of facilities. In this role, you will effectively and efficiently accomplish tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements. As part of the Internal & External Capital Delivery team, you will work with construction managers, project managers, and field crews, to solve problems in the field related to transmission, overhead, and underground lines and substations.

This is an on-site role based in Massachusetts with travel to local site visits.

What You'll Do

You will support the delivery of safe and secure energy to homes, communities, and businesses.

You will:

  • Drive performance of diverse staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with inspections and Quality Assurance regarding contractor or internal employee activities to ensure compliance to Company specifications, practices, standards, operating procedures, policies, and contract documents.
  • Identify and document any safety or environmental incidents or near misses and ensure root cause is identified and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Prior to construction participate in a contractor orientation or pre-construction meeting and maintain documentation as specified in the Pre-Construction Meeting Guidelines within the Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all required forms, records, reports, and support documentation associated with projects.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, and Project Management is preferredfrom an accredited institution

  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025

  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025

  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy

  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, Massachusetts $77,000 - $90,000 a year


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
