National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Supervisor with the Dispatch team at National Grid, you will provide support for the supervision of a Dispatch team ensuring optimal productivity, customer satisfaction, and compliance with all relevant regulations. You will build good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and create positive interactions with various departments to ensure efficient work execution. You will also have the important task of contributing to the protection and safety of the public by coordinating National Grid's response to all Electric and/or Gas issues.

This is an onsite role based out of Northboro, MA.

What You'll Do

In this role you will have the unique opportunity to learn the scope of the gas and electrical systems and join a team with a strong focus on mentorship and development.

You will:

  • Drive performance of diverse staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work in order to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage, plan, and execute the monthly and annual emergency and non-emergency workplan.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of operational data to provide insights and recommendations to improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and improve effectiveness.
  • Manage, motivate, train, and educate the Dispatching team through their daily operations.
  • Execute same day dispatching of all work and ensure optimal productivity, customer satisfaction, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Act as the communication hub for various departments including Field Operation, Customer and Community, Regulatory, Pipeline Safety, and various Engineering groups.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution

  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025

  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025

  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy

  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Northboro, Massachusetts $68,000 - $80,000 a year (Overtime Eligible)


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
