Job Description:
Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer
About the Job: We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong software development background to lead a team of developers. You will support fresh development and sustainment of existing capabilities within our diverse portfolio. As a lead, you will collaborate with project managers, analysts, testers, and other engineers to design, develop, and deploy web-based business systems for our customer.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end iterative design, development, testing, and deployment of capabilities within the Navy Reserve portfolio of business systems.
- Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and other engineers to understand, define, and improve requirements.
- Stay updated on development roadmaps and emerging technologies to advance team capabilities.
- Manage a team of junior to senior software engineers (up to 5), ensuring high-quality task completion and timely deliverables.
- Promote team growth and velocity through mentoring, code reviews, and educational activities.
- Collaborate on complexity reduction, delivery acceleration, and quality improvement in projects, products, services, systems, and processes.
- Become an expert in all technologies within the full stack, including .NET, JavaScript, React, and AWS.
- Foster a culture of agile development with high standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
- 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience leading and/or managing software development teams (up to 15 personnel).
- SECRET-level security clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent), or ability to achieve within 6 months.
- Experience with .NET (C#), ASP.NET, JavaScript, Node, React, MS SQL Server.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize across multiple projects.
- Ability to adapt quickly to complex environments.
- Strong understanding of business requirements and IT strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of software design patterns.
- Experience with bug tracking systems (GitLab, GitHub, Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with version control systems (Git preferred).
- Experience with Azure, AWS, and/or SaaS-based development.
- Proven experience with CI/CD processes and DevSecOps practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Agile environments, leveraging Scrum and/or Kanban.
- Experience developing business systems for the Department of Defense, specifically the US Navy.
- Experience building responsive web applications for mobile devices.
- Experience implementing and configuring CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Nexus Repository Manager, Nexus IQ).
- Experience managing software deployed to production environments (IIS, MS SQL Server).
