A Brief Overview
Oversee recruitment and retention of Early Head Start children and families, social services referral system, career services, parent involvement, Family Review process, and coordination of program events. Provide direct support to Early Head Start families through information referrals and available community resources. Serve as link to Parent Committees. Help keep staff apprised of parent issues. Ensure compliance with Head Start mandates, as well as other licensing/accreditation standards and research protocols. Meet Non-Federal Share/in-kind targets. Supervise staff, interns, graduate students, and volunteers.

What you will do
  • Represent and advocate for Early Head Start program in the community. Recruit EHS eligible children and families, including children with disabilities, and retain them until the children reach age 3.
  • Recruit, hire, and manage performance of staff, interns, graduate students, volunteers, etc.
  • Provide workshops and training to meet parent and staff needs.
  • Assure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act and other regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with parents (including Policy Council and Parent Committees) and staff including specialists, coordinators, and managers. Create partnerships with community organizations where possible to achieve goals of the families and the program.
  • As part of the Management Team, develop, review, and update program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, including the Technical Assistance and Training Plan.
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
  • At least three (3) years relevant experience, working with low-income families, including supervisory experience. Required
  • Experience performing recruitment and application duties in a social service setting Required
  • Experience working with families of diverse backgrounds, teen parents, expectant families, families with infants and toddlers, and families involved with the Child Welfare system. Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration and engagement; excellent assessment skills, including observing and interviewing; and good supervisory and training skills.
  • Specialized Training: Knowledge in overall dynamics of case management and human service delivery systems. Knowledge of local community programs and agencies. Ability to use sound judgment in analyzing social services information to recommend appropriate available services. Able to work independently. Very good computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel using own car, shuttles, buses, subways and/or trains is required. Frequent local travel is required.
  • Bilingual skills (Preferred proficiency)
