We are looking for a passionate, creative Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team and support the AWIS mission of helping women in science achieve their full potential.
As our digital marketing guru, you’ll craft, manage, and execute marketing programs that highlight AWIS advocacy initiatives, foster career growth and a sense of community for members, and support organizations committed to advancing equity in science. Your toolkit should include experience in marketing, project management, website management, social media advertising, data analysis, and top-notch writing, proofreading and editing skills. We each wear many hats, so you’ll need to manage multiple projects at the same time and work both independently and collaboratively with our team and others in the AWIS community.
AWIS is a fully remote organization, so you’ll need a quiet space for hosting webinars and conference calls. While we offer a flexible work schedule, our core hours are 11am to 4pm ET.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support AWIS marketing, fundraising, member communications, governance, and public relations with digital marketing strategies and tactical execution
- Manage monthly webinar series including securing speakers, creating the zoom event, driving attendee registration, hosting the zoom, and uploading recordings to YouTube
- Recruit and manage volunteers for the AWIS program committee
- Develop, manage, and execute AWIS Summer of Science campaign to demonstrate the breadth of career pathways available in STEM
- Create polls, forms, and surveys to understand members’ needs (PropFuel, Google Forms, Gravity Forms, and/or Qualtrics)
- Maintain AWIS website, SEO strategies, and manage hosting vendor
- Create and manage social media advertising and remarketing campaigns
- Publish ads for AWIS’ advertisers and manage media partnerships
- Support AWIS member database using the MemberClicks platform
- Manage the AWIS online store
- Write emails, marketing materials, and articles and support various AWIS communications to amplify the AWIS brand
Required knowledge, skills, and experience
- At least 2-3 years of digital marketing experience
- Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multitask
- Ability to convey information in an easy to understand, compelling, and engaging manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management tools, email marketing, and CMS platforms
- Ability to learn and navigate new software programs
- Ability to analyze performance of marketing efforts and provide actionable insights
- Ability to complement and augment the skills and experience of the existing team
- Ability to exercise good judgment and demonstrate problem solving
- Ability to meet deadlines and take responsibility / accountability for assignments
- Ability to build relationships and provide good customer service
Desired:
- Knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing
- Understand the culture of scientific professionals and knowledge of STEM industries
- Prior experience in a national association, membership organization, or nonprofit
- Experience scheduling and hosting webinars
- Experience posting ads on LinkedIn, Facebook/Instagram
- Experience with webpage creation or maintenance (WordPress and Elementor preferred) and search engine optimization
- Basic knowledge of HTML code
- Experience with finding data and pulling reports in Google Analytics
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and methodologies
- Experience creating content for multiple audiences and measuring results
- Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling
- Proficiency with graphic design (PowerPoint, Canva, or the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere)
- Experience managing volunteers

- $60,000 to $68,000 annual salary (depending on experience)
