Full Job Description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Development Engineer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA.  This role is responsible for implementing the product development process, assisting the sourcing, transfer to production, manufacturing, and supply chain management to meet the required project objectives. This position is responsible for a proficient communication between Vendor Management, Product Management, Engineering, and QA. Focusing on high quality, on-time delivery, and cost-effective finished goods. Completion of some of these duties will require in-person visits to supplier, or YMUS Marine Business Unit Company, plants.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage RFI/RFP/RFQ analysis and cost verification tasks, clarifying the gap between target cost and quotation cost. Present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Review drawings/design specifications to determine the optimal manufacturing process and supplier.
  • Lead and manage the Vendor Management product development tasks ensuring on-time delivery, quality measures, and production capacity. Engaging in negotiations to achieve the target/optimal cost.
  • Manage new supplier setup tasks for manufacturing of prototypes, developing production plans, and collaborate with PQE (procurement quality engineer) to ensure quality suppliers.
  • Support advanced development, prototype, pre-production, and mass-production development discussions.
  • Assist in standardizing development tasks and assisting cross-functional development teams to ensure QDC (Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
  • Create and manage cost reduction tasks and explore/select supplier based on ML (maker layout).
  • Manage suppliers including KPI tracking, KPI performance reports, and part strategy analysis to set ML (maker layout).
  • Manage procurement related tasks such as cost analysis, supplier selection, and price setting.
  • Collaborate with US Marine Business Unit Companies implementing cost reduction activities with their suppliers.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics field required
  • 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • Knowledge of freight and transportation with expediting experience
  • Experience in Boat or Automotive industries preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing work loads
  • Strong oral & written communication and presentation skills
  • Support partnering across multiple levels within the organization
  • Must be able to travel (domestic and international)
