Description

Position Summary

The FFF Enterprises business unit operating teams will rely heavily on the DC Innovation Engineer to evaluate physical process, handling systems, business processes and production data to determine opportunities for improvement and to design and implement more efficient processes.

The DC Innovation Engineer is a skilled subject matter expert who facilitates the design, development and implementation of distribution, pharmacy and back-office processes. The DC Innovation Engineer leads and directs process improvement and capacity enhancement initiatives. Through influence and involvement will lead operating teams through physical and system changes associated with initiatives and will ensure that proper controls are in place to maintain process.

Essential Functions and Duties

It is essential that the DC Innovation Engineer have relevant hands-on experience designing and leading implementation of distribution, manufacturing or pharmacy technologies. Must be efficient with tools and techniques used to develop processes and have experience working with ERP, MES, WMS or WCS.

  • Reviews operational data and processes to identify and quantify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyzes and optimizes the layout and design of specialty distribution centers to maximize space utilization and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Develops and manages capacity planning strategies to ensure the distribution center can meet fluctuating demand levels efficiently.
  • Leads the deployment of new technologies and systems within the distribution center, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve distribution center performance.
  • Collaborates with external vendors and suppliers to source and implement new technologies and equipment that enhance distribution center operations.
  • Consults with internal customers to define problems and opportunities in a measurable manner.
  • Collects and analyzes data and information associated with problems and opportunities.
  • Develops and adjusts raw data into actionable results through the use of database applications such as SQL Server, Google BigQuery, and Access.
  • Presents improvement alternatives to stakeholder and either creates or sources input, testing data and financial analysis to verify improvement approach.
  • Plans approach and project resources to design, develop and implement initiative and aligns resources, materials and preparation accordingly.
  • Manages external resources required to complete initiatives and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operations throughout implementation.
  • Prepares, maintains and proactively manages the project communication plan to the stakeholders and keeps track of project communication materials.
  • Develops process flows and associated documentation to clearly depict the interaction of people, process and technology of current and to-be processes.
  • Calculates labor, material and overhead usage associated with current and to-be processes and presents results in a clearly understood manner.
  • Operates office equipment: computer, scanner, printer, copier, fax, 10 Key, calculator, and phone.
  • Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.

  • Ensure conduct is consistent with all Compliance Program Policies and procedures when engaging in any activity on behalf of the company. Immediately report any concerns or violations.

Qualifications


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, supply chain field or equivalent experience is required.
  • A background of progressively learning and growing skill sets and knowledge that supports success in the role.
  • Lean / Six-Sigma green belt certification.

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience of excelling and high achievement.
  • Relatable experiences using Lean / Six-Sigma tool sets to solve complex problems.
  • Previous experience in developing layout design in distribution centers or other material handling facilities.
  • At least 2 to 4 years of work experience in an engineering role, supply chain role or other role where essential functions have been developed.
  • Hands on experience in either a distribution, manufacturing or high-volume pharmacy operation.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with automated processes, machinery and robotics.
  • Experience developing financial analysis.
  • Experience designing and implementing warehouse processes supported by an advanced WMS.

Required Skills:

  • Must have demonstrated experience and mastery skills in at least two of the following areas:

    • Financial Analysis
  • Must have strong computer skills and exceptional skills with MS Office and at least two others of the following software packages:
    • MS Project
    • AutoCAD design software
    • Visio or other process mapping software
    • Access or other SQL based analytic software
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must have a detail orientation and the proven ability to prioritize work
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and communicate in a timely manner and with absolute clarity.
  • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team
  • Sound decision-making abilities

Physical requirements

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. The employee occasionally lifts up to 20 lbs. and occasionally kneels and bends. Must have the ability to travel occasionally. Working condition include normal office setting.

Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations’ situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgments when necessary. Must be proactive in finding solutions.
