Job Description:
Apex Systems is looking for an experience Business Intelligence Lead, who has strong data visualization and dashboard creation experience with PowerBI. The Business Intelligence Lead will need to be well versed in all things SQL. The Business Intelligence Lead will need to be comfortable working with development teams, working directly with end-users (business sponsors) and be comfortable reviewing visualizations and dashboards with Director and VP level individuals.
This role sits on-site in Lake Mary, FL or Pittsburgh, PA 2-3 days per week. We are not accepting remote only candidates at this time.

Primary Functions/Job Description:
- Works directly with business leaders to understand the business needs, critical path, and timeline to meet project goals.
- Develops business intelligence solutions to fulfill short and long-term priorities with solutions ranging from traditional, to more modern, interactive reporting tools.
- Leverages an analytic mindset to develop visualization of key trends and insights for decision making.
- Communicates/interacts with business partners up to the VP level.
- Collaborates with development team, project managers, and business analysts to determine requirements and develop solutions to meet business goals.
- Develops relational and dimensional data models to support reporting and analytics (SQL Server BI Platform).
- Assists leadership with advocating for and maturing the BI program using the latest methodologies as well as classic data warehouse and operational data store design patterns.
- Supports production reporting and data warehouse environments including shared after-hours rotation.
- Leads design and code reviews of BI solutions.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Database Development/Data Engineering/Data Warehouse/BI Reporting (Data Management) related functions/roles.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Reporting Applications.
- Must have 3+ years working with PowerBI minimum; with ideal candidate having 5+ years of PowerBI.
- Extensive experience in creating data visualizations and dashboards from scratch.
- Experience driving requirements gathering process and designing visualizations and dashboards.
- 7-10+ years of SQL development:
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, database technologies, and data warehouse design philosophies including dimensional modelling, Star, & Snowflake schema.
- Expert SQL development skills including, but not limited to, table design, queries, table-valued functions, window functions, and index optimization.
- Knowledge of connecting to a disparate data stores and combine data to develop reports.
- Knowledge in financial risk reporting - KRIs and KPIs.
- Strong experience in SDLC, DevOps processes - CI/CD tools, Git, etc.
- Knowledge of Scrum and XP methodologies and ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong desire to improve data quality and performance.
- Knowledge in data pipelines and snowflake databases.
