The Team
We are seeking a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Compliance Coordinator to join American Tower’s U.S. Tower division’s Regulatory Compliance team within the Legal organization. This team ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous materials. Day to day you will serve as the general point of contact for HazMat compliance documentation, information requests, and projects in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and Company policies and procedures. As a HazMat Compliance Coordinator, you will support the HazMat Compliance Specialists and partner cross- functionally as a HazMat liaison between departments and environmental consultants and contractors.
What You Can Offer Us
- Review HazMat inventory data reported in Operations department site audits to determine if HazMat levels exceed the threshold planning quantity at a federal, state, or local level; determine presence of asbestos-containing materials, ordering asbestos surveys as needed.
- Ensure accurate HazMat inventory in the site audit system. Assist with training Operations department personnel on accurate HazMat data collection
- Interface with local environmental agencies and Operations team by coordinating HazMat inspections requests.
- Maintain records of compliance documents; review, log, and scan HazMat removal documentation, asbestos surveys, and/or abatements, agency filings, permits, and certifications.
- Generate purchase order and capital expenditures requests and process invoices for HazMat services.
- Coordinate with consultants and contractors to process HazMat services orders and ensure timelines are met.
- Support Specialists with preparing and processing HazMat compliance mailings, reporting, permitting, business plans, and other state reporting or plan preparation.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience providing administration support in a regulatory work environment preferred.
- Strong computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office suite, Salesforce, project management or workflow tools and/or other similar databases and applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
