Opportunity:

Five9 is seeking a passionate, results-oriented and collaborative Communications Director, Technology & Product to drive visibility, awareness, and growth for Five9’s technology and product portfolio story.

This highly visible role will be responsible for the strategy and execution of communications programs that showcase Five9’s innovations and the vision of its product strategy. This role sits within the Corporate Communications team, partnering  closely with product, engineering and product marketing to create narratives that amplify the Five9 AI and CX technology story.

The ideal candidate will have a history of impactful technology communications experience and thrive in a dynamic environment that requires a strong point-of-view and savvy for high-stakes issues. This position reports to the VP of Corporate Communications.

Responsibilities:

• Develop communications roadmap for product launches, updates and a broader narrative on Five9’s AI and CX product portfolio
• Collaborate with Corp Comms, Product, Engineering and PMM teams to develop messaging and media strategy for product news and storytelling
• Work with appropriate product spokespeople to develop thought leadership, develop creative campaigns to amplify technology/product POV and pitch interviews and speaking opportunities
• Partner with Corporate Comms, Customer and Partner Marketing to engage customers and partners for joint PR and marketing campaigns
• Align closely with Analyst Relations, Social, Internal and Executive Communications to ensure consistency of message and amplification across the right channels and audiences
• Take the lead on day to day proactive technology PR programs, working with corporate communications and global agencies
• Collaborate to manage PR agencies to drive maximum value, measuring earned media KPIs and insights, and sharing with the wider marketing team and leadership
• Set SMART objectives and drive measurement for programs
• Develop appropriate training and coaching for spokespeople when engaging with media
• Budget management is key, with a sharp focus on ROI

Ideal Candidate:

• 10+ years’ experience in technology / product communications. AI comms experience a huge plus
• Experience collaborating 1:1 with executives and building programs that roll up to top level business strategy
• Can grasp technical concepts and help articulate those concepts to a diverse audience through creative executions and simple language
• Ability to move between strategy and execution easily
• Dedication to the news cycle and fast-paced communications cycle, with experience in rapid response, including shaping complex stories
• Expertise in both traditional and emerging media and channels
• Innovative thinking, not afraid to take risks and push the team and company in new directions
• Experience in managing and maximizing external agency resources, stretching every dollar of investment.
• Management of budget and resource allocation to support success and efficiency
• Experience in working for a publicly listed B2B technology company preferred
• A relevant degree or diploma is preferred

• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Organized and efficient self-starter adept at working in fast-paced environments and is equally productive when working independently or on a team
• Strong business acumen, budget management and project management
• Strategic, objective-driven planning and reporting
• Demonstrated relationships with impact across traditional and emerging influencer ecosystems (journalist, editors, bloggers, vloggers, industry experts and leaders)
• Familiarity with social media best practices
• Understanding of AI, CX, CCaaS and/or SaaS ideal  

Work Location: This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside the 50 mile radius of our San Ramon office.  For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Ramon location, this role is Hybrid and would require 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office.

Additionally, the total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
