Job Description:
Senior Communications Network Engineer
Apex Systems is hiring for a Senior Communications Network Engineer with a large government client supporting the Navy & Marine Corps in Norfolk, VA! This position requires a currently active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance.

Contract: Long-term rolling
Schedule: M-F
Hours: You will work in collaboration with the Hawaiiteam, need candidates open to working Hawaii day hours
REQUIREMENTS:
- Active, DoD-issuedSecret Security Clearance
- Bachelors degree in IT-related field AND 4+ years of hands-on network engineering experience(will accept 4 additional years of experience in Lieu of degree)
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- One of the following IAT Level III Compliant Certifications:CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment)
Responsibilities:
- Provide Information Assurance Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and thought leadership for the largest Intranet in the world. A qualified candidate for this position would be responsible for network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Transport Services for the as-fielded NMCI network.
- Collaborates with Network Domain Architects to define and/or continuously improve:
- Audits and Reviews STIG compliant configuration baselines, versioning, and compliance tracking.
- Test and Validate Automation and best practice insertion opportunities.
- Leads development of SOPs/TTPs.
- Continuous Service Improvements (CSI).
- System performance tuning and enhancements.
- Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
- Extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.
- Plans and executes network upgrades and maintenance activities with the NMCI Operations Manager, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key stakeholders.
- Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.
- Active participation in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.
- Previous work experience providing support to the NMCI program is highly desired.
- Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.
- Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
- Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.
- ITIL v3/v4 certification/training.
- Agile certifications or applicable experience.

- + $4.57/hr added to your hourly wage for every hour you work within a 40 hour work week
- 80 hours of PTO added after first year on contract
