JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Product Certification and Compliance; this role is responsible for collaborating across business units and functional leaders to coordinate development and execution of Blue Bird’s certification and compliance reporting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares, reviews, make edits and submit certification applications to EPA and CARB
  • Create and maintain responses to EPA, CARB, ECCC and other regulatory agencies; to include HVIP applications for California and New York
  • Create and submit production and Advanced Clean Trucks (Rule implemented in 2024) reports
  • Serve as a technical authority regarding emissions compliance requirements and provide guidance & direction by Interpreting regulatory language
  • Work with key stakeholders in gathering information for certification applications and analyze them
  • Participates in the emissions and fuel economy regulatory rulemaking process by interacting with internal and external groups, including analysis and response to proposed regulations
  • Communicate certification status weekly or daily basis to product planning, production, sales and management
  • Provide inputs for organization pertaining to upcoming certification requirements
  • Develop creative methods (along with supporting engineers) towards procuring the Company’s emissions certifications are submitted and approved on time
  • Work with and lead activities supported by other compliance engineers to ensure that obligations required to maintain GHG emissions compliance are provided accurately and on time
  • Strengthen industry influence via regular participation within the appropriate Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA) committees
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field required.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in vehicle emissions certification and compliance reporting to government agencies.
  • Automotive, Trucking or Bus industry experience is preferred
  • Experience with emissions and Fuel economy regulations

Work Experience
Experience with emissions and fuel economy regulations.
Experience in the Automotive, Trucking or Bus industry.
4 years: Experience with vehicle emissions certification and compliance reporting to government agencies.
