The Dry Blend Bagger is responsible for filling and palletizing products in the Dry Blend Department. The Bagger is also responsible for the quality control functions required in packaging product, GMP's, and sanitation requirements.
Shift: 4:45pm-5:07am
Pay Rate: $23.44
Job duties will include but are not be limited to the following:
*Primary Function:
- Operate bag filler, sealer, conveyors, and metal detector equipment in the bagging process.
- Set-up labeling equipment and ensure accuracy on finished products.
- While filling packages, the Bagger will sample product, monitor filler scales for accuracy, assure metal detector compliance, and maintain packaging room production records.
- Stretch wrap, receive and put away pallets using forklift computerized warehousing system.
*Secondary Function:
- Coordinate activities in product changeovers to facilitate a team environment.
- Assist co-workers as necessary to achieve an efficient operation.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the bagging area.
- On wet wash days, clean equipment according to the Sanitation Standard.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Safety Responsibility:
- Use proper lifting techniques when performing the bagging job.
- Follow plant safety rules and procedures. The Dry Blend Baggers will regularly be required to lock out packaging room equipment and follow chemical handling requirements on cleanup days.
- Individual is required to perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries.
- Attend annual safety refresher training courses.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to operate a forklift, maintaining compliance with established forklift safety standards.
- Must be able to operate the forklift computerized warehousing system.
- Must be able to do mathematical calculations.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
Physical Recruitments:
- Must have manual dexterity to manipulate labels and handle bags at both the filler and the sealer.
- Must be able to handle 55 pound bags of powder on an ongoing basis. This will require:
- Bending, twisting, and turning when filling and sealing bags. Pushing and pulling when taking bags from the conveyor. Stooping and lifting overhead when stacking bags onto a pallet that is setting on the floor.
- Must be able to work in a somewhat dusty environment as some of our products are dusty.
Interpersonal / Organizational Responsibilities:
- Must be able to follow written methods, paying close attention to details.
- Must be able to follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job.
- Must be able to maintain legible & accurate records/paperwork as required.
- Must have communication skills to properly explain equipment or product quality issues to Maintenance or other Production Personnel. Must also have the skills to communicate with other Baggers at shift handoffs.
