Highly qualified applicants, including more junior postdoctoral fellows (i.e., PhD on or after January 1, 2020), are also encouraged to apply directly to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts Collegiate Fellowship Program (LCF) (https://lsa.umich.edu/ncid/fellowships-awards/lsa-collegiate-postdoctoral-fellowship.html). Applicants are also encouraged to apply to the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT).  These programs, aimed at recruiting faculty with outstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, provides for an optional fellowship period prior to transitioning onto the University tenure track. Applications for the LCF should be received by October 15 and M-PACT by October 15; the MCDB Department should be referenced with the application.

Job Summary

The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan solicits applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The faculty position will be tenure track with a university year appointment starting August 25, 2025 or January 1, 2026. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous, extramurally-funded research program and provide instruction to both undergraduate and graduate students in a diverse, inclusive environment.

We welcome applications from outstanding biological scientists in all areas of cell/molecular biology in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Experimental approaches may include (but are not limited to) neuronal cell biology, neuroimmunology, systems neurobiology, electrophysiology, genetics, genomics, structural biology, microbiology, and single cell technologies.
