The Compliance & 3rd-Party Risk unit at Moody's leverages data-driven insights and cutting-edge technologies to help businesses deliver prudent risk management in the KYC, Supply Chain, and Trade Credit space. We are currently seeking an Data Scientist to join our dynamic and motivated Data & Analytics team. The ideal candidate will have some experience as a data scientist conducting statistical modeling and machine learning work as well as a passion for problem-solving and communication.
In this role, you will be highly involved working on a variety of projects starting with bad-actor classification and network analysis. In your day-to-day you will be working in a cross-functional squad consisting of other engineers, data scientists, and product owners.

The Work:

  • Develop and maintain statistical & machine learning models supporting improved user experiences in various products and business operational processes.
  • Ability to independently conduct various technical work around the machine learning development process, from conducting sound data analysis through model training and evaluation.
  • Learn to work in project squads adhering to project management best practices and maintain active participation in team ceremonies.
  • Constant problem-identification and problem-solving with business stakeholders, with the ability to communicate and iterate quickly.
  • Ability to conduct work around gathering requirements, communicating results of your work, and advocating for a data-driven scientific mindset.
  • Ability to learn and work with open source data science related languages and frameworks, but also comfortable with various cloud providers such as Databricks, AWS, and GCP
  • Develop an understanding of the MLOps lifecycle beyond the training process, such as around deployment frameworks, microservice paradigms, serialization methods etc.
  • Some understanding of modeling techniques on non-tabular data such as experience in networks, computer vision, or NLP.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of data engineering best practices in the compliance and AML space.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in industrial data science, statistics, financial modeling or similar
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or similar quantitative subject.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with non-technical audience without an ego.
  • Strong technical understanding of developing models. Even stronger understanding of evaluating statistical soundness of models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to industry trends and changes.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$127,500.00-$184,950.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
