Job Description
The High-Risk Work Associate Specialist will be responsible for supporting high risk work activities. The high-risk work program includes elevated work, hot work, line breaking, confined space entry, lockout-tag out, electrical safety, excavation and trenching, mobile crane safety, as well as equipment and machine safety.
The associate specialist will develop a productive working relationship with all departments. Aid in providing guidance on the High-Risk Work (HRW) programs and audits. This position will be responsible for enhancing the site's high risk work safety culture within the Engineering, Maintenance and Site Services (EMSS) team. Additionally, work with other department safety representatives to enhance the culture of high-risk work. Provide additional support for contractor liaison and permit supervisor training and ensure compliance with the Global Safety & Environmental (GSE) Standards for contractor management and High-Risk Work. Perform responsibilities and addresses problems with limited supervision.
Specific Objectives:
Assist or lead HRW In person training.
Conduct audits of HRW activities for our Company personnel and contactors.
Review and walkdown Hazardous energy control procedures (HECP) revisions.
Walkdown jobs with engineers and technicians to provide guidance on execution from a safety aspect.
Audit HRW activities as they are being executed.
Work with engineers and techs to ensure they are properly trained for the high-risk activities they are performing.
Assist in contractor management activities related to Highwire (contractor management approval and activity logging software). Follow up on contractors requiring additional documentation within the Highwire system.
Attend daily tier meetings and provide feedback into our safety culture on site such as good catches or incidents reported as well as planned high risk activities.
Assist in incident investigations related to high-risk work to ensure appropriate details are provided to get an accurate root cause and corrective actions.
Identify EHS program and training improvement opportunities. Develop enhanced EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as needed.
Spend time in the field reviewing high risk job sites to audit and provide guidance on how to complete task safely.
Education:
Required, associate degree or higher in engineering, safety or related technical discipline with a concentration in machine or equipment maintenance.
Requires Experience and Skills:
Minimum 3-5 year's experience in project management, contractor management and execution of high-risk work activities.
Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and people skills with a focus on customer service.
Demonstrate a basic level of skill with project management, root cause investigation and problem solving.
Ability to navigate computer system to extract and analyze data to perform trending and ensure continuous improvements.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
