The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is seeking applicants for multiple open rank faculty positions, with flexible starting dates. The department is looking to grow its expertise in data integration, data science, artificial intelligence/machine learning, clinical trials, genetics and genomics, survey statistics, high-dimensional modeling, imaging statistics and computational statistics. However, the focus of the search is broad and excellent candidates in any field of statistical/biostatistical research will be given full consideration.

    Who We Are

    The Department of Biostatistics currently has 45 primary faculty members and over 300 full-time Ph.D. and Master's students. The Department is involved in cutting-edge methodological research and scientific investigation in many areas of public health and biomedical research. The Department has close ties with the Department of Statistics, the Institute for Social Research, the Medical School, the Michigan Institute for Data Science, the Institute of Health Policy and Innovation, the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, and other research groups across campus. In FY21, the Department of Biostatistics had $32 million in research expenditures. Within the Department, there are 5 impactful Research Centers, including: The Cancer Data Science Shared Resource; The Center for Precision Health Data Science; The Center for Statistical Genetics; The Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Center; and the Statistical Analysis of Biomedical and Educational Research Center. The Department has two training grants, the Genome Science Training Program and the Cancer Biostatistics Training Program, as well as an undergraduate training program, the Big Data Summer Institute.     Required Qualifications*

    Required qualifications include a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in biostatistics, statistics, genetics, data science, computer science, bioinformatics, or other related quantitative discipline, and a strong research interest in health data science. Excellent candidates for the position with other research focus will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
