The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (SAFS) at the University of Washington seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with a specialization in freshwater ecology. The successful applicant is expected to establish a collaborative, externally funded, and nationally recognized research program and to contribute to the teaching mission of the School through innovative classroom teaching and effective mentorship of undergraduate/graduate students and postdocs. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship and service.
This is a full-time (100% FTE), 9-month position with an anticipated September 16, 2025 start date. The initial appointment of an Assistant Professor is typically for a period of three years. Renewal for a second three-year term will be considered by the department and school/college/campus spring quarter of the second year

Compensation
The base salary range for this position will be $9,500 - $14,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing-wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance, a relocation incentive, and/or commitment of summer salary.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D., or foreign equivalent, in freshwater ecology or a related field by the start of the appointment. They must also show evidence of teaching effectiveness and/or potential for high-quality teaching and mentoring.
