We are seeking a 6-month Co-op to join our Structural Chemistry group in the Protein and Structural Chemistry (PSC) department within Discovery Chemistry. Our group employs multidisciplinary methods to explore and optimize protein crystallization for structural elucidation to advance our drug discovery pipeline. This position offers a meaningful opportunity for a budding scientist to immerse themselves in the dynamic field of structural biology, contributing to our efforts to improve patient lives while gaining valuable industry experience. The Co-op will be integral to our structural biology efforts, gaining hands-on experience with advanced laboratory techniques and contributing to critical projects in drug discovery.
Key responsibilities include:
Protein Crystallization/Optimization/Structural Analysis: Support high-throughput crystallization screening, optimization, and subsequent data collection, processing, and analysis to solve protein structures.
Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM): Assist with preliminary analysis of cryoEM data and support high-resolution structure determination.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Working with multidisciplinary teams to bridge early-stage discovery and late-stage development.
Scientific Communication: Presenting research findings through written reports and oral presentations to internal teams.
The Co-op will be responsible for accurate electronic notebook recording, use of laboratory equipment for crystallization, and safe lab practices. Required Education and Skills:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or other closely related field.
Candidates must be available to work full-time for 6 months beginning in spring of 2025.
The successful candidate must be highly organized, motivated, and have strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative team-oriented setting and contribute to the inclusive culture of the group
Preferred Experience:
Laboratory research experience in protein crystallography/data processing and familiarity with cryoEM.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
