Summary:While learning the skill of welding and welding procedures through on-the-job training, assist Welders with welding components using a variety of welding processes and equipment to fabricate or repair Naval and commercial products as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work order

Responsibilities:


* Layout weld progression according to welding diagrams, blueprints, or work orders.


* Prepare and clean welds for inspection.


* Assist in performing job duties and requirements with related documentation.


* Set-up weld equipment and perform basic maintenance of weld equipment.


* Ensure quality of workmanship via pre-determined weld acceptance


* Comply with all safety rules and promote the importance of safety in the performance of all job functions.


* Perform other duties as assigned.

Required experience, skills and background:

Minimum Qualifications:


* Drug Free


* High school diploma or GED;


* Enrolled in technical training.


* Must have basic math skills (pre-algebra) and basic understanding of welding.


* Ability to work in a heavy commercial construction, power piping, shipyard welding, or heavy fabrication shop.


* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.


* Ability to function within the working conditions and physical requirements described above.
