Job Summary
The Orthopedic Nurse Externship is a 6-month training program for current nursing students to learn coordinating and delivering patient care roles. This program consists of both didactic and clinical education. Students must be able to work 8 hours minimum per week and 20 hours during school breaks.
Responsibilities And Scope
Assist the registered nurse by performing delegated duties to include patient assessments, planning, and implementation of care.
Participate in didactic and hands on clinical education.
Perform documentation under the director of a Registered Nurse.
Communicate effectively with members of the health care team, patients, and family members.
Function as a cooperative and active member of the orthopedic team.
Qualifications
Required
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
