Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in R or Python, with experience in utilizing libraries and frameworks relevant to data analysis (e.g., data.table, dplyr, ggplot, numPy, pandas, scikit-learn) and geospatial analysis (e.g., sf, terra, geopandas).
- Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and analysis.
- Ability to process and interpret satellite imagery and Digital Elevation Models along with their derivatives.
- Knowledge of seismic hazard analysis and earthquake engineering.
Nice to have:
- Experience with analyzing satellite images or working with remote sensing data
- Knowledge of or experience with ground motion models or other geohazard-related models would be a significant advantage, aiding in understanding of the project's objectives
- Experience with USGS and GEM models.
Education:
- Working towards M.S. or Ph.D in Geosciences, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
Responsibilities:
- Development of innovative methodologies to develop regional variation in space to estimate alternative site classification methodologies.
- Utilize latest technology to develop and process non-SQL databases with geohazard data for development of Satellite image derived geohazard models.
- Contribute to ongoing research and development efforts, incorporating latest innovations in the field of geotechnical earthquake engineering.
- Effectively communicate complex technical or scientific concepts, both verbally and in writing.

In Earthquake Model Development team, we implement latest science and engineering by partnering with the academic institutions, researchers and clients to ensure that our clients make impactful financial decisions based on the best available information. We are a global, multi-disciplinary team of professionals with a shared passion for developing the best catastrophe models in the market.
Our team comprises:
- Scientists and engineers in the areas of earth science and engineering, from seismology, geophysics, geology, geotechnical engineering, ground motion modeling to earthquake engineering.
- Experts in analytics and statistics for scientific interpretation of a wide range of observation data and earthquake loss estimates.
- An unmatched team of risk modelers with long-term experience and diverse perspectives.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly range for this position is $45 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location.
