Training and Development Summer Intern Opportunity
This summer internship will offer a meaningful and engaging experience for the summer intern to develop valuable skills and gain practical knowledge in the instructional design and corporate training field. They will work closely with our senior instructional designer to learn about how our training team operates, how we approach new training requests, best practices for prioritizing multiple projects and tasks, and how to apply the adult learning theories and instructional design skills that they learned in their college courses.
The internship will include:
- Project-based Learning: the intern will be assigned specific instructional design projects, including creating a new e-learning course or courses) and redesigning existing course materials. This hands-on experience will allow the intern to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations.
Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): The intern will have opportunities to work closely with SMEs to understand the content and learning objectives. This collaboration will help them learn how to effectively gather information and tailor instructional materials to the target audience.
Learning Management System (LMS) Exposure: The intern will explore and work with our learning management system (Cornerstone). This experience will help them understand the technical aspects of delivering and managing online learning content.
Needs Assessment and Analysis: The intern will be involved in the initial stages of a training request. This exposure will help them understand the importance of identifying learner needs and aligning instructional strategies to meet those needs.
Reflection and Portfolio Development: The intern will be allocated time to reflect on their experiences during the internship and compile a portfolio showcasing their projects. This portfolio will be valuable for their future career endeavors.
Mentorship: The intern will be paired with an experienced Senior Instructional Designer who will provide guidance, answer questions, and share insights. This mentorship can greatly enhance the intern’s learning experience.
Requested Degree Program: Instructional Design, Learning Design and Technology, Instructional Systems Technology, Educational Psychology and Technology, or similar program.
