Job Duties: Independently perform drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) related scientific experiments with a predefined goal including developing new methodologies, protocols and/or test procedures that contribute to core group/research goals and reflect expert knowledge. May direct and oversee experimental design and results of technicians and junior level scientists. The scientific experiments utilize cutting edge technologies such as high-resolution mass spectrometry (Orbitrap, QTOF, MALDI), high sensitivity mass spectrometry (triple quadrupole), multidimensional liquid chromatography, ligand binding, immunoaffinity purification, hydrogen-deuterium exchange, solid phase extraction, automated liquid handler, automated magnetic beads hander, etc. Independently perform pharmacokinetics/toxicokinetics analysis for biologics, and have clear understanding of and support pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics modeling. Represent DMPK department in multidisciplinary research and development teams. Develop an understanding of R&D process and team goals and work effectively toward achieving them. Either assume departmental responsibility for projects when necessary or participate as representative on multiple project teams and contribute to defining expertise-related aspects of overall program goals. Independently prepare clear technical reports, publications and oral presentations. Independently communicate results in the form of reports and/or presentations. Present responsibly and defend own work at meetings. May deliver updates to senior level management in context of overall project goals. Develop expertise in a specific project-relevant area or technology. May provide guidance and expertise to advance specific projects or evaluate and propose new technologies and concepts in support of multiple projects. Work with various laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Compile associated outputs with supervision. Keep abreast of relevant literature. Develop visibility outside of functional area. Mentor scientific staff. Comply with all applicable regulations. Ensure that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner. Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (8:00am to 5:00pm)

Job Requirements: Doctorate degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field. Must have coursework or experience in the following skills: high-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry of both large and small molecules, protein biochemistry, hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry, pharmacokinetics analysis, and drug metabolism; utilizing high-resolution mass spectrometric instrumentation and analytical platforms; utilizing top-down and bottom-up high-resolution mass spectrometry approaches; performing in vivo critical quality attributes (deamidation, oxidation, clipping, and glycosylation) assessment for biotherapeutics; performing pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics analysis for biologics; applying understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics modeling and drug research and development from discovery to clinical development; labelling characterization for critical immune assay reagents by intact liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry; performing biomarker quantification in clinical and preclinical species; utilizing data processing software, including Analyst, Xcalibur, Skyline, Proteome Discoverer, PEAKS, and PMI; designing and performing immune-affinity purification and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based bioanalysis in drug discovery and development; working with research teams and communicating research results to stakeholders; utilizing analytical and biochemistry knowledge for the bioanalysis of different forms of biologics; and, applying understanding of chemical biology topics, including gene cloning, protein expression and isolation, biochemical assay (e.g., activity assay, binding assay), SDS-PAGE, western blot, and chemical probe development.
