If you join our Responsible AI team as a Senior Responsible AI Assessment Program Manager, you will join an organization committed to partnering with stakeholders across policy, research, and engineering to help every product team in Microsoft ship these evolving technologies responsibly.
As a Senior Responsible AI Assessment Program Manager, you assess responsible AI risks of generative AI releases across the company, work with product teams to develop and implement appropriate measurement and mitigation techniques. You will partner with policy, research, and engineering stakeholders to rapidly adjust to the changing AI and policy landscape and drive new requirements across product teams. This opportunity allows you to directly shape the next wave of AI products and influence responsible AI requirements.
This role requires a deep understanding of generative AI use cases and responsible AI, a keen sense of product and program management to accelerate support responsible AI commitments while keeping product innovation in mind, and sufficient technical background to understand responsible AI measurement and mitigation techniques. This role is flexible in that you will be able to partner with your Manager to define the way that you’d like to work, whether that is in the office or from home.

As a Senior Responsible AI Assessment Program Manager, you will evaluate upcoming product releases using generative AI or state-of-the-art foundation models for alignment with Microsoft’s Responsible AI Standard. Your responsibilities include:
- Spend significant time with product teams, evaluating their upcoming product releases for responsible AI risks and evidence of mitigation effectiveness while building working relationships and trust.
- Develop a deep understanding of generative AI technology, customer use cases, and responsible AI practices.
- Identify patterns and gaps across use cases. Drive new requirements to engineering and policy stakeholders to clarify requirements and close gaps.
- Partner with the rest of the Responsible AI Assessment Lead team to continually improve process efficiency and ensure we are focused on the highest impact responsible AI areas.
- Drive operational and quality improvements to accelerate core objectives.
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- 1+ years of experience in machine learning and/or AI
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in Responsible AI, Digital Safety, or Security.
- Experience with Generative AI.
- Deep understanding of Natural Language Understanding (NLU)/Natural Language Processing (NLP)/Natural Language Generation (NLG) and language models.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Machine Learning, NLP, Computational Linguistics or Ethical AI.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
