This position is with NorthStar Clean Energy, a CMS Energy company, and is not a position of employment with Consumers Energy.

The Sr Compliance Analyst has the responsibility to maintain and administer NSCE's compliance assurance and tracking database and collaborate with compliance and plant personnel to identify and develop internal controls, and business requirements that prevent a noncompliance. The Sr Compliance Analyst partners with persons who are responsible for various regulatory submissions to prepare documents and their submittal. Lead the process of establishing internal controls for procedures, compliance regulations, root cause analyses. The Sr Compliance Analyst will interface with regulators and their systems to monitor, understand and manage information requests, audits, self-certifications and records submittals. Conduct assessments and evaluations of the government reporting and administrative processes for continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Compliance Assurance Tracking database, by developing schedules, training users, developing system documentation, managing user permissions and security controls, working with users on understanding their expectations, and actions for task completions.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Managers, Subject Matter Experts and persons responsible for compliance obligations to identify internal controls that are preventative, detective, corrective in nature. Investigate risks and implement controls for compliance processes within the computer compliance tracking system.
  • Evaluate compliance activities with regulatory standards, governmental regulations and associated requirements, lead changes necessary to improve compliance performance.
  • Conduct program, policy and procedure reviews, evaluations, and training; Lead corrective actions necessary for improvement. Assist in the development and execution of assessments for internal and external compliance requirements.
  • Manage, maintain and monitor Regulator's compliance databases and tracking systems, for requests/actions. Collaborate with compliance task owners to prepare documentation for submittal for audits, data requests, reports, certifications and filings. Maintain Entity profile information. Assist/perform with submittals as needed.
  • Manage, maintain and monitor compliance tracking system, activities and documentation for the preparation and submittal of governmental reports and filings, maintain government reports task preparation procedures.
  • Maintain compliance program documentation organization and retention.
  • Coach and lead others in identifying, developing and implementing internal controls.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understand database principles and functionality.
  • Understand compliance processes, internal controls and principles.
  • Understand compliance principles and facilitation.
  • Ability to think analytically and utilize problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use computer programs such MS Excel, Word, Power Point and databases.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Plant Science, or related field required
  • 4+ year's experience in Database management, internal documentation coordination, or internal auditing experience required. Understanding of internal control processes including auditing and monitoring. Regulatory experience in energy space preferred.
