Job Summary:
The Senior Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the America’s benefits offerings by administering health and welfare programs, managing leave of absence processes, and overseeing the day-to-day administration of employee benefits. You will ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state and local regulations while providing hands-on support to employees and our HRBP’s. Familiarity with Canada, and Brazil LOA regulations is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Health Insurance Benefits Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of employee health insurance plans, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Support the administration of the America’s Health and Welfare benefits including, monthly invoice processing, updating training materials, US Death notification, ADA and Workers Compensation processes. Conduct regular audits of benefits plans and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Non-Core Benefits Administration:
- Support non-core benefits administration such as HSA, FSA, Commuter, and voluntary benefits.
Leave administration:
- Support employees by guiding them on leave programs and processes (STD, FMLA, state paid FMLA, Parental, other), complete employer claims, review reports to instruct payroll, update employee leave status in workday based on reports from leave management vendor.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding leave, disability, and confidentiality of employee personal health information/data.
Employee Support and Communication:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits, providing exceptional customer service and resolution support.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure benefits programs comply with federal and state laws and regulations, such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and the Affordable Care Act.
- Compliance Filings and Reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, with a focus on health insurance and non-core benefits programs.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations.
- In depth knowledge of leave requirements and regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in benefits management software.
- Ability to work from an office in NYC or Norwalk, CT
Desired Skills:
- Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) and/or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) designations/certifications
- Experience with HRIS systems, particularly Workday benefits, and time modules
- Familiarity with Canada, and Brazil LOA regulations
The budgeted salary amount range for this position in the State of Connecticut and NYC is $84,000 - $105,000.
