Under general supervision of the Director or Medical Director, the Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for setting up and operating Polysomnographic equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep related disorders. In addition, the technologist must have a thorough understanding of all monitored parameters which are utilized in the computer scoring and preparation of Polysomnographic reports. Ability to institute and maintain life saving measures is required.
Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates Degree in the Health Sciences preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
- 2 years prior experience employed as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
- Experience at an AASM accredited Sleep Center preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- CPSGT- Certified Polysomnographic Technologist to take registry exam within 3 years, before the certification expires*
- Completion of all 14 Modules of Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)/ AASM A-Step Program to be able to take the Registry for Polysomnography.
- Maintains continuing education units as required by PSGT Certification.
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
*RRT-SDS credentials maybe be substituted for CPSGT Certification
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of all Polysomnography equipment.
- Knowledge of infection control.
- Demonstrated safe, knowledgeable practice skills at all times based on theory and consistent with Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
Pay Range: $23.76 - $35.13
