Job Title: Director, B2B eCommerce Cloud Platform Engineering
Current Need:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as Director of Cloud Platform Engineering. This role is critical in guiding our platform engineering strategy, ensuring our platforms are robust, scalable, and secure.
The Director of B2B eCommerce Platform Engineering will be responsible for leading our full stack cloud engineering, platform building, and operations teams. The role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, infrastructure as code (IaC), DevSecOps, and high availability (HA) patterns. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building PaaS (Platform as a Service) cloud platforms, incident management, and ITSM/ITIL processes, along with extensive experience in site reliability engineering (SRE) and observability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop long-term IT strategies for transportation management, identifying opportunities for technology integration and improvement.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Architectural Leadership:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly available, reliable, and scalable cloud platforms.
- Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Solution Design:
- Create comprehensive solution designs that address complex business challenges, leveraging cloud technologies, data analytics, and automation tools.
- Managing the delivery through the system integrators / Managed services partners
Technical Oversight:
- Oversee the integration of middleware - Mulesoft/Tibco etc, APIs, microservices, and container (Azure Docker) technologies.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) and ensure security best practices are embedded in all processes.
- Ensure robust observability and traceability mechanisms are in place to proactively troubleshoot production issues.
- Drive DevSecOps practices and ensure seamless integration of security within the development lifecycle.
- Manage and mentor technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee incident management and align with ITSM and ITIL processes.
- Work within large matrix environments, coordinating with various teams and departments.
- Define and manage service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure operational excellence.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, particularly AI, GenAI platforms, and intelligent automation, to drive innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of experience in IT, with extensive experience in cloud platform engineering and operations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Critical Experience/Skills
- Proven experience in building and managing PaaS cloud platforms.
- Strong background in full stack cloud engineering, security, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Expertise in DevSecOps, microservices, containers, and middleware.
- Migrate applications and services from Google cloud to Azure cloud
- In-depth knowledge of high availability (HA) patterns and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Extensive operations experience with a strong understanding of SRE principles.
- Proven track record in observability and traceability to enhance operations.
- Experience with incident management and knowledge of ITSM/ITIL processes.
- Evaluate and implement eCommerce use cases with AI, GenAI platforms, and intelligent automation
- Excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and mentoring technical teams.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
