The Assistant of Kitchen Services supports the overall operations and management of the kitchen at Willows Youth Services Center. They work closely with the Manager of Kitchen Services to ensure and maintain the highest standards of food quality and cleanliness.

essential duties
Kitchen Operations
- Collaborate with the Manager of Kitchen Services to plan and execute menu and daily kitchen operations.
- Monitor food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure and meet high quality standards.
- Implement and maintain sanitation and safety standards in compliance with health regulations in all food related areas.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure food quality, consistency, and adherence to recipes.
- Ensure stock is rotated using the first in, first out method is used to minimize waste and spoilage.
- Promptly address any issues that arise during food preparation, such as equipment malfunctions or shortages of ingredients.
Kitchen Management
- Assist in the training and supervision of kitchen services volunteers.
- Provide guidance and support to employees, ensuring they adhere to the agency's policies and standards.
- Assist the Manager of Kitchen Services with inventory management, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and optimize costs.
Customer Services
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication.
- Promptly address and resolve any issues or discrepancies in food preparation or service.
- Monitor customer feedback and strive to enhance the overall dining experience.
- Address customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
job requirements
a. Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Associate's degree in culinary arts or a minimum of 3 years of Food Service experience.
- ServSafe certification or a valid WA State Food Handlers Permit.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.
b. Additional Requirements
- Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
- Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
- Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.
