Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the DukeDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology-Division of Maternal FetalMedicineprimarily atDuke Perinatal Consultants of Durham in Durham, NCas well as occasionallyDuke Perinatal Consultants of Cary and Duke Perinatal Consultants of Raleighlocations.

The APP will work in collaboration with the attending physicians and advanced practice providers providing direct patient care, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies.

Job Hours

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.Clinical and administrative sessions are generally 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. There is a possibility of Saturday hours as well as extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs. There is a possibility of deployment to General OB-GYN sites to provide the best patient access.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Collect patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in patient's record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Order, schedule and review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

OBSTETRICAL CARE

Obstetrical care including but not limited to:

• Provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit.
• Perform the new obstetric exam with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy.
• Perform FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment.
• Initiate plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on the individual patient medical/surgical historyprescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; report progress to collaborating physician and maintain record of each patient's progress.
• Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.
• Performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment.
• Collaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage.

GYNECOLOGICAL CARE

Gynecological care including but not limited to:

• Methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning
• IUD/Nexplanon placement/removal
• Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

• Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing,
• Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Certification

BLS required.

License

• Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
• Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Experience

• 2+ years of Certified Midwife, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant work experience with Women's Health - High Risk Obsetrics preferred.
