HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

POSITION SUMMARY

Commercial Specialist / Advisor for the Gulf of Mexico requires an extensive knowledge of Land and Commercial management. The candidate must possess strong negotiation experience, strong contract background and demonstrated strategic thinking.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commercial asset management of Company's operated/non-operated Gulf of Mexico assets including:
    • Central point of contact (internal and external) for asset business matters
    • Ensure compliance of government rules and regulations, license obligations and applicable agreements
    • Negotiation and interpretation of complex Land and Commercial contracts - provide advice and guidance to asset team and management
    • Protect value for the business through contract knowledge and adherence, co-owner relationships, and commercial negotiations
    • Create value for the business through strategic planning and identification and capture of cost recovery opportunities
  • Ability to read and analyze complex Commercial contracts (JOAs, PHAs, transportation agreements, etc.)
  • Historical research projects (former assets, pricing/differential trends, etc.) and on special projects as required
  • Preparation and submittal of required reporting and nominations for GoM oil and gas transportation contracts
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with government agencies, industry competitors, and relevant internal Hess departments
    • Government agencies - maintain strong working relationships with regulatory authorities (primarily the BOEM and BSEE). Remain current on changing rules and regulations applicable to licenses and license maintenance.
    • Industry competitors - initiate, maintain and enhance strong relationships with negotiators and decision makers of strategic competitors to keep management advised of their strategies and tactics including joint venture opportunities.
    • Internal Hess departments - ensure effective departmental relationships to foster team effectiveness with Exploration, Legal, Development, Production, Tax, Treasury, EH&S, Land Administration, Accounting, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 3+ years in a Land and/or Commercial role with experience in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Position will be filled at either the Specialist or Advisor level based on experience.

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or Law degree a plus
