Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and edit a variety of accreditation documents, including self-studies and other institutional and programmatic reports as well as program handbooks and other academic documents.
- Coordinate regular review of foundational academic documents, including maintaining the editorial calendar and document management.
- Provide developmental editing and copyediting to ensure clarity, coherence, and accuracy in writing.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to gather information and develop effective writing strategies for accreditation documents and evidence pieces.
- Analyze accreditation deliverables for accuracy and provide quality assurance support for written documents and reports.
- Effectively manage multiple projects, changes in project scope, and shifting priorities to maintain project requirements and ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with departmental and cross-functional peers to ensure proper resolution to questions and issues during the document development process.
- Continually review the document development process to ensure quality.
Job Skills:
- Excellent academic or technical writing and editing skills, including familiarity with APA style.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, at times with limited supervision, and as part of a team.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to provide feedback in a nonjudgmental, growth-oriented perspective.
- Knowledge of higher education accreditation standards and requirements preferred.
Work Experience:
- Two years of experience in academic writing, editing, or a related field.
- Experience in higher education, especially in writing and editing academic documents.
- Experience in accreditation or regulatory processes in higher education preferred, but not required. especially but not required.
Education:
- Master’s degree in English, journalism, or a closely related field.
- All degrees must be conferred from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
